Forms of Nature

"...Nature,
indifferent spectator,
unaffected,
showing equal love
to Cain's fruits
and to Abel's firstborn."

A. Karkavitsas

The deteriorating and unstable organic nature of nature is more relevant than ever as it is contrasted with the dangerous urbanized life of humans. This relationship of humans with nature remains the focus of contemporary concern both on a theoretical and artistic level. The exploration of humans' essential bond with nature through the environment constitutes an experimental field of research. Nature as a value and quality helps us connect with new perceptions and interpretive terms on environmental issues and the concept of our being.

The environment, nature, and organic forms are the main source of inspiration for the sculptural installation Forms of Nature, characterized by the curved, biomorphological element that preoccupies and characterizes the artistic writing of the creator. With biomorphic peculiarities and minimalistic references, the clean sculptural forms and free flow of shapes in the work, as "axles in space," create synesthetic images that refer to all the elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air, but also to the human body and its organic forms. Giving emphasis to representational elements, colors, shapes, and texture, the creator is exclusively preoccupied with the tactile character of the sculptural installation's work, where increasing purity focuses on the tactile character of the material and its broader exploration of space. Through this process of exploration, the synthesis of curved shapes that may refer either to the movement of tree branches or to the movement of flames subversively signify that the primary source of all this is earth, inviting the viewer to perceive the work experimentally moving between the tactile and the visual, thus corresponding to the constantly changing visual due to the cyclical movement that appears in the different sides of the composition, revealing the varied synesthetic connotations of the nature of creation.

Art is a game of forms, a game that calls upon a work of art. The simple, coherent, and open work will create a friendly and open space with multiple references using biomorphological terms and an aesthetic code that highlights qualities of simplicity and fluidity. It does not indulge in details, with economy in expressive means, aiming at the essence of things. Leaving the object in space creates a dynamic transfer from the tension of its environment and its interaction with space. Thus, a new narrative is created through its tactile, vibrant, and synesthetic images, adding to the aesthetic and sensory delight of the natural environment.
